The island of Poel is one of the most beautiful islands in Mecklenburg and lies in the centre of the Lübeck-Schwerin-Rostock city triangle. It can be easily reached from the Hanseatic city of Wismar via an embankment (15 km).
Timmendorf Strand is located on the western tip of Poel, with the actual town of Timmendorf about one kilometre behind it. Timmendorf Strand is the most popular beach on Poel and offers ideal conditions for a beautiful Baltic Sea holiday with its lighthouse, pilot house and small harbour as well as many water sports facilities.
